The story was multi-tiered and quite enjoyable. Our team work was necessary to make the resolution stick. Some of the more interesting challenges were not combat dominated. Unique ideas and solutions were required. I love a game that makes me think! The setting was very interesting and I loved Ajax’s descriptions and subtle layering of the environment in each scene. Her voice acting also helps create the right ambiance to make this an immersive experience. I am having a great time in the Radiant Citadel and highly recommend this campaign and each of the adventures. My only “complaint” is that there is just too much tea. We all KNOW coffee is the supreme beverage!
One of the high points of the Radiant Citadel adventures, in my opinion. “Sins of the Elders” requires the PCs to investigate a multifaceted mystery while abiding by the social restrictions of society, namely protecting one’s family honor, saving face, and being circumspect while talking to people whose information you need to succeed in your investigation. The adventure requires subtly and brains but the payoff is worth it and the renown the players gain by successfully navigating the culture is significant. If you are a fan of Asian culture writ large, you’ll enjoy this one; if you spent any time in Asia (more specifically Japan, China, or ROK), this one will feel nostalgic in the best ways.
A very spooky chapter within the Radiant Citadel campaign. Definitely requires good, smart role playing to solve all the mysteries. Probably my second favorite of the RC adventures so far!
