Rise of Tiamat

The Cult of the Dragon leads the charge in an unholy crusade to bring Tiamat back to the Realms, and the situation grows more perilous for good people with each passing moment. The battle becomes increasingly political as opportunities to gather allies and gain advantage present themselves. From Waterdeep to the Sea of Moving Ice to Thay, it is a race against Evil. Succeed or succumb to the oppression of draconic tyranny. Win or lose, things will never be the same again.

This adventure advances characters from Level 8 to 15.

A great high-level romp, particularly if continuing from Hoard of the Dragon Queen (or HOTDQ, as we called it). AjaxDM did a fantastic job of structuring the adventure — we always knew what we were doing next, while also feeling free to do something else first. She also finds a way to create moments where each player can shine through. Pro-tip: make sure you have someone who can attack at range because — no spoilers — some of the campaigns’ villains have wings and flying speeds.

This series of adventures lets the party become heroes … or zeros … as they race from quest to quest across the whole of the Sword Coast. AjaxDM did a fantastic job keeping it all together. High spots included converting the minions of one of the BBEGs to become followers of Helm, standing shoulder to shoulder with his best buddy as they await their fate face to face with a very angry dragon (yes, a dragon, not really a spoiler there given the title of the campaign) even grappling with a blue dragon in full flight. Oh, and surviving … a definite high spot. My character can now go into ‘retirement’, which will involve working through his list of unvanquished enemies, learning to play the flute even better than he already does and developing new recipes for gruel.
